Bio

Carlos is a versatile musician proficient in piano, guitar, and composition, originally from Caracas, Venezuela, and currently residing in Montreal, Canada.

Having initiated his musical journey at a young age, Carlos Casique cultivated his skills as a professional musician, specializing in jazz, funk, latin, and classical genres. He holds a degree in Classical Piano Performance from a Venezuelan Conservatory and furthered his education by studying jazz piano with Gerry Weil a renowed music teacher in Venezuela and receiving lessons from Dave Frank, a distinguished pianist from New York.

Carlos has garnered extensive experience as a session musician, leading his own musical ensembles over the years. In the past decade, he has released several EPs, either under his own name or as part of collaborative musical projects.

During his time in Venezuela, Carlos actively participated in recording projects and significant musical events and festivals with his own band or collaborating with prominent musicians.

Since his relocation to Canada in 2014, Carlos has primarily focused on performing funk and jazz. Notably, he served as a composer, performer, and arranger in a local Montreal funk & soul band from 2017 to 2023. The group showcased his compositions and arrangements in various festivals and events in Montreal, Quebec.

A noteworthy highlight includes their participation in the opening act for Grammy-winning African music icon Angelique Kidjo in July 2023, at the Festival Nuits D'Afrique.

Presently, Carlos Casique is actively engaged in diverse musical projects, including the development of a chamber music duo and a salsa-latin jazz group based in Montreal, Quebec.
